Drop Rating: 4.5/5 By: Nathaniel Simpson Thrillers nowadays have a hard time of finding one identity, trying to juggle multiple aspects and not knowing which direction to head in. That's why Christopher Landon's Drop is such a refreshing change of pace, with him delivering a thriller that is reminiscent of the old Hitchcock films. It may not be the best thriller ever made, but it's a damn good film that keeps the viewer entertained, on the edge of their seats, and constantly guessing from beginning to end. The film opens up on a very tense note, with Violet (Meghann Fahy) in a tense stand-off with her abusive husband involving a gun. This already sets the tone for the film, making the viewer jolt awake with attention and builds the suspense the movie needs to succeed. A Minecraft Movie Rating: 2.5/5 By: Nathaniel Simpson Minecraft is one of the biggest video games in the world, with millions of people playing it everyday and thousands of streamers building their own worlds and collaborating with one another. Therefore, with the abundance of films being adapted from video games, it was inevitable that they would adapt the video game where its players run around building things, mining, and fighting off creepers. However, how are they going to take a game with practically no real plot and turn it into a feature-length film? They try their best here, but even though the film shows that it is having a lot of fun, it's simply all over the place, begging the question of whether or not a film can get by on the basic focus of it being fun. Annabelle Comes Home Rating: 3/5 By: Nathaniel Simpson The Annabelle doll may be a terrifying object in the Conjuring franchise, even if it hasn't been represented properly throughout the films in the series. Besides Annabelle: Creation, it seems like the filmmakers who work on these films don't really know how to make her scary, besides her appearance. It seems like they just use her as an overarching symbol for the films, even though she has no real importance or is used as an afterthought. Unfortunately, that's the case for Annabelle Comes Home , which is a fun little haunted house flick that doesn't use the doll to its full advantage, as well as suffering from some flaws. Being the child of exorcists and demonology experts must be really hard, and that's the life of Judy Warren (McKenna Grace).
